Senior Applied Scientist – Computer Vision & Generative AI (LLM/VLM)

Contract: PJ (Long-Term)

Location: Remote (100%)

Position Overview

A leading technology-driven organization is seeking a Senior Applied Scientist with deep expertise in Computer Vision, Vision Language Models (VLMs), Large Language Models (LLMs), and multimodal AI systems. This role will be responsible for designing, deploying, and optimizing advanced machine learning solutions that leverage image, text, and structured data to solve complex business challenges.

The ideal candidate combines strong research and applied machine learning experience with a proven track record of delivering scalable AI solutions in production environments. This position offers the opportunity to influence technical strategy, mentor team members, and contribute to the development of innovative AI-powered products.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, deploy, and optimize Computer Vision, VLM, and LLM solutions to address business needs.Build and enhance multimodal AI models for product understanding, attribute extraction, classification, and authentication use cases.Develop scalable Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines and AI-powered workflows utilizing structured and unstructured data sources.Maintain clean, efficient, scalable, and production-ready code following industry best practices.Analyze large-scale datasets to uncover actionable insights and support data-driven decision-making.Apply state-of-the-art machine learning methodologies, frameworks, and architectures to create robust AI solutions.Drive technical direction and own critical components of machine learning systems throughout their lifecycle.Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Data Science, and Business stakeholders to deliver AI-powered applications.Mentor junior team members and contribute to the growth of organizational expertise in Computer Vision and Generative AI.Support innovation initiatives through research, publications, patents, open-source contributions, and industry engagement.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.5+ years of professional experience in Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Artificial Intelligence, or Generative AI.3+ years of experience building, deploying, and managing machine learning and deep learning models in production at scale.Strong expertise in Computer Vision, multimodal AI systems, transformers, CNNs, foundation models, and modern deep learning architectures.Hands-on experience developing, fine-tuning, evaluating, and deploying LLM and/or VLM solutions.Experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases, embeddings, semantic search, and prompt engineering.Advanced Python programming skills and experience with machine learning libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, and Scikit-Learn.Strong data engineering and large-scale data processing experience.Experience with experiment tracking, model evaluation, and automation platforms such as Weights & Biases, Ray Tune, Kubeflow, or similar tools.Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.Preferred Qualifications

PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Statistics, Operations Research, or a related discipline.Experience with multimodal foundation models and state-of-the-art Generative AI technologies.Familiarity with LLM orchestration frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, DSPy, or similar platforms.Experience designing and maintaining MLOps pipelines for machine learning and Generative AI applications.Background applying AI and machine learning techniques to real-world business challenges within retail, e-commerce, recommendation systems, visual search, product catalog management, or authentication domains.Experience fine-tuning open-source foundation models and evaluating model performance, safety, robustness, and hallucination mitigation strategies.Publications, patents, conference presentations, or open-source contributions related to Computer Vision, Machine Learning, LLMs, VLMs, or Generative AI.
