Role Description
As an Official Translator at Jumpstart, you will be responsible for the precise linguistic conversion of critical documents required for U.S. immigration filings. You will handle everything from personal civil documents to complex professional evidence, ensuring every translation meets USCIS certification standards.
Your work ensures that the "story" told by the Legal Writers remains accurate and impactful across languages. You are ensuring the legal validity of our clients' life histories and professional achievements for the U.S. government.
Key Responsibilities
Certified Translations: Provide accurate, word-for-word translations of documents from Portuguese into English, including the required Certification of Accuracy.Document Diversity: Translate a wide array of documents, such as:Legal & Civil: Birth or marriage certificates, police clearances, and diplomas.Professional: Employment contracts, recommendation letters, and business plans.Academic & Technical: Research papers, transcripts and technical patents.Formatting & Integrity: Ensure the translated document mirrors the layout and formatting of the original as closely as possible for easy review by USCIS officers.Quality Assurance: Proofread and edit translations for nuance, tone, and cultural context while strictly adhering to legal accuracy.
Requisitos
Bilingual Mastery: Near-native fluency in English Certification: ATA Certified (American Translators Association) or have equivalent official certification/notary recognition.Efficiency: Ability to work under tight deadlines without compromising the meticulous detail required for legal evidence.Confidentiality: A high degree of ethics and discretion when handling sensitive personal and financial data.
Location
This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere. However, we believe in the power of face-to-face collaboration; therefore, the role involves occasional in-person meetups for strategic planning and team building.
