Senior Geophysicist
You will be responsible for providing in-person and remote technical support and troubleshooting for our software application, primarily based at our client’s location. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and a customer-focused mindset to ensure smooth software usage and high client satisfaction.
Alongside the core support responsibilities, you will be encouraged to grow into delivering advanced geophysical consulting in processing, data analysis, 4D, and seismic inversion services. A strong foundation in seismic data analysis is therefore essential.
You will be part of the Services team at Sharp Reflections and report directly to the Manager of Services. This role sits at the intersection of technical support, geophysics, and client engagement, offering strong exposure to both operational and consulting activities, with direct interaction with our technical team, as well as the Support and Product teams. You will work closely with clients as a trusted technical partner while collaborating internally to ensure a high standard of user experience and continuous product improvement. Contributing to business development activities, particularly in Brazil, will also be seen as a positive aspect of the role.
To succeed, you’ll need to acquire and maintain a deep knowledge of the company’s technology and develop creative service offerings focused on helping clients achieve business outcomes. We will provide training and support in the software and its disciplines to ensure a high standard is reached quickly.
Key Responsibilities
Client Support & Issue Resolution
- Provide timely and effective on-site and remote support to diagnose and resolve software-related issues
- Identify, analyze, and resolve complex software issues, escalating to support team or product team when necessary.
- Ensure issues are fully documented, tracked, and communicated clearly to clients
Client Engagement & Relationship Management
- Build strong client relationships through clear communication, responsiveness, and a solutions-oriented mindset
- Manage client expectations by providing regular updates and transparent timelines
- Act as a trusted advisor to support efficient and effective software usage
Training & Enablement
- Deliver user training sessions to help clients maximise the value of the software
- Provide tailored one-on-one coaching for advanced workflows and specific client needs
- Advise on best practices and optimal workflows
Continuous Improvement & Feedback
- Gather user feedback and identify recurring issues or improvement opportunities
- Collaborate with Product, QA, and Development teams to enhance software performance and usability
- Share insights from client interactions to influence future product development
Geophysical Services/Consulting
- Gradually contribute to advanced geophysical services including:
- Seismic processing
- Data analysis
- 4D interpretation
- Seismic inversion
- Develop domain expertise to deliver technically differentiated consulting solutions to clients
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Fluent in Portuguese (spoken and written), with strong communication skills for technical and business discussions
- Based in Rio de Janeiro, with authorization to work in Brazil
- Strong grounding in seismic data analysis, including seismic processing, AVO analysis, and 4D seismic
- At least 5 years of experience in seismic processing, AVO analysis, or inversion
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
- Ability to work directly with clients in a professional, service-oriented manner
Desirable:
- Experience with geophysical interpretation or processing workflows
- Exposure to seismic inversion
- Previous experience in a client-facing or support role
